Danville's historic core — the blocks around Constitution Square and Centre College — is full of late-1800s and early-1900s homes with original hardwood under them. A lot of it has been carpeted at some point, which ironically protected it. Pulling that carpet back is one of the more rewarding calls we get: the boards underneath have frequently never been refinished at all.
