Refinishing disrupts your home for a few days — here's exactly how it goes, so there are no surprises.

Day 1 — Prep & sand

We protect doorways and vents, move what you need help with, and sand to fresh wood with sealed dust containment. Honest note: a little dust still escapes — just far less than open sanding.

Day 2 — Stain & first coat

Your chosen color goes on, then the first sealing coat. The house smells like work is happening; plan for pets to stay clear of the floors.

Days 3–4 — Build coats

Additional durable coats, each cured properly before the next. You can usually walk through in socks 24 hours after the final coat.

After — Move back in

Furniture returns in 3–4 days (felt pads on, please). Rugs wait 1–3 weeks while the finish fully cures — we'll tell you the exact date for your finish.

How dust-free is the sanding, really?
No honest refinisher will promise zero dust — but our sanders connect to a sealed containment system that captures the vast majority at the source. That means dramatically cleaner air, far less cleanup, and a home you can keep living in while we work.
Can you repair water damage, pet stains, or gaps and match my existing floor?
Yes. We replace and weave in new boards, fill gaps, and blend stain so repairs disappear into the surrounding grain. One honest note on pet stains: gray and surface stains usually sand out, but deep black stains are a chemical burn in the wood and often don't — we'll tell you at the estimate rather than surprise you later, and board replacement handles the rest.
We just bought a house — should we refinish before moving in?
If you can, yes. An empty house is the cheapest, fastest moment you'll ever have to refinish: no furniture to move, no one living around the work, and floors fully cured before the movers arrive. And if you've just pulled up carpet and found hardwood — text us a photo. That floor is almost always worth saving.
