What we do in Harrodsburg
Harrodsburg was settled in 1774, and the housing stock shows it. Around the historic district and out toward Fort Harrod you find floors that predate anything in Lexington — narrow old-growth oak, heart pine, and wide poplar boards cut from timber that simply doesn't exist anymore. These floors are usually thinner than modern flooring and have often been sanded before, so the first thing we do is measure what's left rather than assume.
Local knowledge
Harrodsburg is a small town with old bones — the streets around Asbury University hold early-1900s homes where original hardwood is still doing its job a century in. Floors like these deserve the careful treatment: real sanding that preserves board thickness, repairs woven in so they disappear, and stain matched to the home's age.
That measurement drives the whole plan. If there's wear layer to spare, a full sand brings back grain that's been hidden under a century of finish. If there isn't, we say so and recommend a screen & recoat instead — which protects the floor without spending board thickness you can never get back. Sanding an irreplaceable 1820s pine floor into oblivion is not a service we offer.
